The International Society of Medical Nutrition (ISMN) has announced the establishment of its founding leadership team, marking an important milestone in the Society’s development and its commitment to advancing medical nutrition through global collaboration.

The founding leadership team brings together internationally recognized experts from food science, nutrition, medicine, healthcare innovation, and related disciplines. Their combined expertise will provide strategic guidance for ISMN’s future development, supporting the Society’s mission to promote evidence-based medical nutrition, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and facilitate the translation of nutrition science into practical healthcare applications.

Professor Roger Clemens has been appointed as the President of ISMN. A globally recognized expert in food science, nutrition, and public health, Professor Clemens has served as President of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) and President of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST). He has also served as a faculty member at the University of Southern California (USC) and contributed extensively to research, education, and scientific communication in nutrition, food science, and health-related fields.

Professor Pingfan Rao has been appointed as Vice President of ISMN. Professor Rao is the founding Director of the CAS.SIBS–Zhejiang Gongshang University Joint Center for Food and Nutrition Research and a Distinguished Professor of Fuzhou University. With more than 35 years of research experience in food science and technology, Professor Rao has made significant contributions to the study of bioactive components, food-derived health benefits, and functional food innovation. He previously served as President of the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST) and has played an active role in promoting international cooperation within the global food science community.

Dr. Dong Jin has been appointed as Vice President of ISMN. Dr. Dong currently serves as President of China Medical Devices Journal Press and LumoScience Publishing Limited. He is also Deputy Director of the Department of Clinical Medical Engineering at Capital Medical University and Chairman of the Beijing Smart Healthcare Technology Innovation Alliance. With extensive experience in medical engineering, healthcare innovation, and academic publishing, Dr. Dong brings valuable perspectives on integrating medical technology, clinical practice, and scientific communication.

The establishment of the founding leadership team reflects ISMN’s interdisciplinary vision of connecting medicine, nutrition science, food science, and healthcare innovation. As global health systems increasingly focus on prevention, chronic disease management, and long-term health improvement, medical nutrition is becoming an important area that requires collaboration across multiple fields.

Through its leadership structure and expanding international network, ISMN aims to create a global platform for scientific exchange, professional collaboration, and knowledge sharing among researchers, clinicians, healthcare professionals, and industry partners.
